Netters
I too made my fuselage wider, 43", with the sides vertical. I fastened
temporary plywood bulkheads to my work table at specific points (firewall, fwd
spar, aft spar, and several in the tail). After gluing up the "side trusses"and
the T-88 had cured, the ply was epoxied and stapled in place. While the epoxy
was still wet, I clamped the sides to the temporary bulkheads. Doing it this
way, I avoided part the stresses since the plywood could shift slighty as
needed. After the skins cured, the retained their shape. The temporary
bulkheads also held the sides in alignment till the bottom cross members,
gussets, and bottom skins were complete.

the sides with the plywood attached. (over 2 days). They lifted off the table
in the middle higher than the wood blocks I had as a spreader. I would use some
at least 2" if not 3" high next time.? I did not break anything but the sounds
of cracking was something that made me nervous.? I presumed it was some of the
5/8" pieces coming loose from the ply in some places.? I did not find any upon
my inspection but did fillet some flox on some that look suspicious.? I can't
remember the width of the bottom but I made it proportionately wider also. Mine
is not flying but I have the canopy and seats in and can sit two people with
out needing a shoe horn to get in.? Good thing to because I started about 5
years ago and have gained about 6 pounds each year.? I think it will be easier
to put me on a diet rather than my plane.? Now if I just had an engine and some
wings.> > Steve Phillabaum> Shorter, Alabama> 334-740-0066> > > > > > >
