Almost all of the KR's built today are barely related to the original KR.
We, the builders over the past 35 years have made the wonderful changes that
make the KR what it is today. Ken Rand (KR) was certainly our inspiration
and in many cases our aeronautical education...and if I credit him by
calling my plane a KR, it is a mere homage. Aside from the first KR I did in
the seventies, all of the subsequent work since has been from that education
AND from anothers' air foil, canopy, fuslege lenght, landing gear, engine
and on and on. While I appreciate what the original KR was and still is, I
do recognize that there is much that was borrowed from the past by Ken
himself....and we are in part borrowing from him.
You do not have to have a "registered" set of plans to build and license
a so-called KR. Some of us do it as a matter of recognition to the guy who
got us going!!
