I have a geared starter that came with the engine from GPASC. I will try to
remember to get the make and model when at the hangar this afternoon. It turns
my 2276 with 8.5 to 1 compression and total seal rings with no strain.

However, it also could be your battery, battery location, or battery cables to
the starter. Or, a combination of these.

I have a 1834 VW in my KR2 and am using the Diehl case with the prestolite
starter
MDO 4207M and it does not have enough torque to pull it through the compression
stroke. Does anyone know what starters are being used on the larger VW engines?
I sure do hate to hand prop to get the engine started.
Thanks
