At the 2025 Gathering Banquet, we decided as a group to return to Mt Vernon on September 10-12, 2026. That evening we didn't know that the MidWest Aviation Expo is scheduled that weekend. That's a very large event with a lot of people and airplanes sharing "our airport" (at least that is how "at home" the KR regulars feel!)
I communicated with MVN Airport Manager and our great host, Chris Collins about the overlap. We agreed the overlap in 2022 brought some "big event" advantages to the KR members and it brought some big event problems too. Most notably was the loss of the closeness we enjoy as a dedicated Gathering, just for KR aficionados. Chris said he prefers to be able to spend more direct time with our group. I agree with him. After that discussion, I'm in favor for moving the date for the 2026 KR Gathering back one week to September 17-19. As the "web guy" for the Gathering web site and one of the organizers, we solicit your input. If you plan to attend the next KR Gathering at Mount Vernon, we ask you to preregister anyway. If you cannot make the later Sept 17-19 date, please add a note in the "Comments section" to let us know. We'll take your voice into consideration. Thank you.
