Here in southern Oregon, it's 10% ethanol (E10) year-round. After replacing carburetors on my gas pressure washer, gas lawn mower, etc. because gas gummed up their little ports and passageways and diaphragms- I've taken to shutting off the fuel and letting the engine run to a stop rather than leaving any gas in the carb. I also try not to keep gas in a portable gas can more than a couple of months because it goes flat and gets funky. Our RAV4 plug-in hybrid runs mostly on battery, so when we'd had it for a year, it gave us a message saying to run it on gas to use up what was in the tank because it was the same year-old fuel we had gotten with the car when it was new. That's a sealed fuel system in the RAV, but the stuff just doesn't age well even then.
