Howdy, Netters; About three weeks ago I posted a question about autogas that seems to have spurred quite a bit of discussion here. Good discussion, good information, good PIREPs on different experiences with various flavors of autogas. This is one of the reasons why KRNet exists! To quote a line from a Pink Floyd song (or, some would say, from Steven Hawking)- "All we need to do is make sure we keep talking."
I've made my decision as far as what I'll be fueling N335KC with: 100LL. The self-serve pump is 75 yards from my hangar door, it's open and accessible 24/7, and avgas at that pump actually costs 15 cents a gallon less than 92 octane ethanol-free autogas here locally. And although there are plenty of 3-letter acronyms for things that can contribute to flight safety and airplane reliability (FAA, STC, PMA, ATC, etc.), there is ultimately only one 3-letter acronym that is going to be responsible for the success of my flights, and it is "PIC". Yeah... ME. ~ ~ ~ I'm sure Larry is queueing up his "Night Before Christmas, KR style" poem right about now, but I also like the one about Santa's pre-Christmas flight review with the sleigh loaded to max gross with presents and all the reindeer out of practice from having the summer off. Before Santa gets out to the sleigh, the FAA examiner slips in, buckles up, and then hides a shotgun in the crack of the seat. When one of the elves in back asks what the heck he's doing with that, the examiner just winks, smiles, and says "let's see how he does when he loses an engine on takeoff". ;o) Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR KR 1-1/2 N335KC in restoration
