It seems that in the latest package versions the "Midnight Commander" profile has been removed. Don't know if this is a bug or a feature... Anyway I post here the content of the file ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/profiles/filemanagement after the modifications I have described in my previous post. Replacing the default one with this content or creating a new file (if not present) should make the missing icons appear again.
