Never mind the issue about removal from default (I prefer to keep
kde apps as default), there are some other features, which other
torrent clients are better. As an example the blacklisting of IPs
is not very good/non-existing in Ktorrent. So it could use in
general some TLC.

Ktorrent is the current default torrent client that we provide in

Now that we've transitioned to Plasma 5, it's no longer
buildable/installable
in "Vivid".

The upstream web site is down: http://ktorrent.org/

I looked in KDE git and there's no sign of a KF5/Plasma 5 port:

https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/network/ktorrent/repository

My conclusion is that ktorrent isn't an option for Vivid, so we
either need to
stop shipping a torrent client or pick a different one. Since
torrent is one
of the major distribution mechanisms for Kubuntu images, I think we
should
continue to recommend a torrent client in Kubuntu Desktop.

I took a look at the currently packaged alternatives and qbittorrent
seems
like the obvious choice. It's Qt based and is actively maintained in
Debian
and upstream.

Anyone have other suggestions?

I'll probably go ahead and make this change shortly. We can always
switch to
something else if we conclude there's a better option. Ktorrent
being seeded
is one of the reasons the LiveFS builds are currently failing.

I hope we can continue to ship Ktorrent. It is currently in queue to
be "gardened" so some of the major bugs will be fixed, and a new
release. Unfortunately, that doesn't get it ported. But at that point
perhaps it will be in a state where a maintainer will step up.

I know this is a time of transition, and we might have to shuffle
things up a bit. Currently, Ktorrent is working just fine for me in
Plasma 5 on Utopic. I seed all the *buntu torrents.

I am of the same mind as Valorie on this, I might even play with the
idea of becoming a maintainer of Ktorrent.
But I'd prefer to keep it
