I'm doing just that. I have a remote POTS line connected to the FXO port of an SPA3102. The 3102 'points' across a (Linksys) VPN to a PAP2T on this end. One FXS port of the PAP2T connects to a CO trunk of my TD1232. The same should work on your TDE system.
