Ok, I understand that. Shall we see how we get on, if it looks like it will be hairy we take our time towards 3.5 and if it seems to be smooth sailing, we get a Christmas present? :)

In 3.4.4 we must be very careful not to break things because that is

translation updates to 3.4.4. So why not add a new language? I think
it will be manageable. Fortunately adding Gaelic will not introduce
new strings to translate, because it not a completely new language -
as you said it used to be in OOo.
