So, apparently, it was necessary to discuss this harshly in this unrelated mailing list. There was a bug soliciting the removal of these unhelpful pages and I agreed with that request. And I don't think that the Options dialog is broken because top-level entries can be selected. That is normal behavior, I've seen it in many other applications.
