That wasn't entirely my question. I was querying why the strings given up for translation in pootle seem to be less specific/descriptive than the actual names (judging by the Name column of the chart you linked). It seems like we're given a random selection of strings from the Annotation column and I was simply wondering as to the rationale of that within LO.

For example, why is FACE_THROWING_A_KISS given as "kiss2" in en-US when the "Name" is "face throwing a kiss"? What is more appropriate/useful about calling it "kiss2" rather than the more descriptive "face throwing a kiss"?
