If think there are very interesting ideas to borrow here, and some of them seem very easy to implement! First, there could be arbitration agents in the system, which could enforce some rules about the 'loan'. Alice could give away access to some part of her space bank to Bob at some conditions (and would give access to the space loaned to the arbitration agent, which could then check the conditions while Alice is unable to do so). Bob could also check that Alice cannot reclaim the space in such a way that he cannot recover. All combinations are possible: - arbitration agent can be a watchdog, and take action on detection of misbehaviour (instantly revoking access to Bob, giving read access to Alice, etc.) - arbitration agent could make the check when Alice reclaims space, and Bob would be given an opportunity to recover only if he obeyd the conditions Being clear that Bob knows what exactly the conditions are and what the arbitration agent is able to do.
