#3 Emergency vigil for ceasefire in the Mideast - Costa Mesa Saturday
     the 29th

Saturday July 29
7pm - sundown
Triangle Square
(Newport Blvd. & 19th St. - where the 55 Fwy South ends)

Please bring candles, sidewalk chalk, and signs communicating peace, not
hatred

The people of the Middle East are suffering yet again as militarists on
all sides send forth missles, bombs and endless words of justification.
Yet there is no justification for the level of response launched by the
state of Israel against the innocent of Gaza and Lebanon in response to
the taking of Israeli soldiers as prisoners. The Orange County Peace
Coalition believes that the state of Israel cannot achieve peace without
a radical reversal in the strategic direction they have recently
undertaken.

To that end, we call for an immediate cease-fire as well as the withdrawl
of Israeli troops from Gaza and Lebanon. We also call upon the United
States government to cease weapons sales to the Israeli army.

Please join us Saturday July 29 @ 7pm as we stand
with the peacemakers on all sides of the conflict. For more
information, please visit www.ocpeace.org

#6 Million Votes for Peace Campaign at Green Meeting Sunday,
      August 6th

(Posted for informational purposes. No endorsement of a
candidate by the OC Peace Coalition is implied.)

               Green Party of Orange County
                         General Meeting
          Sunday, August 6th, 2006 @ 2:00 PM

Lunch with our guests: 1:00 PM All Welcome!

This Meeting: Three Distinguished Green Guests!

- Todd Chretien, the Green Party's U.S. Senate candidate
in CA, is calling for a Million Votes for Peace to make a
   referendum on the Iraq war.

   Todd is a long-standing anti-war, anti-death penalty and
civil-rights activist. Most recently, he participated in the San
Francisco May 1st Coalition that organized the immigrant
rights demonstration on May Day. In 2005, as a member
of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, he worked to
prevent the execution of Stan Tookie Williams. He has
appeared three times on "The O'Reilly Factor". To find
out more about Todd, please go to www.Todd4Senate.org.

- Donna Warren is a different face in the Green Party. Running
for California's Lt. Governor with the Million Votes for Peace
Campaign, she stresses the need to cooperate on issues, across
party lines. In 1999 she sued the CIA for "allowing" crack
cocaine to infest South Central and in 2004, she was the field
coordinator for Prop 66, the initiative to amend California's
   Three Strikes Law. www.donnawarren.com

- Matt Gonzalez (unconfirmed) is the past President of the San
Francisco Board of Supervisors. In 2003, Matt ran a powerful
grassroots campaign for San Francisco Mayor and came close to
winning the election. Since leaving political office, Matt has
started a progressive law practice in San Francisco, Gonzalez &
Leigh LLP. He is advising on an appeal for Santos Reyes, a
victim of the Three Strikes Law, serving a 26 years-to-life
sentence for taking a DMV test for his cousin.

Some new projects within San Clemente Food Not

Books Not Bombs. BNB collects and redistrubutes reading
material, preferably progressive and historical writings,
and offers them to the community at no cost. BNB looks to
collect, among others, childrens books to be distrubuted to
Las Palmas Elememtary School, located across from the
park which SCFNB serves at.

Finally, SCFNB has begun a small collection of youth working

#7 Every Sunday evening in Huntington Beach:

"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm

It's hard for most people to imagine a world at peace.
We are a very small group of people who believe that
this is indeed possible and that peace will happen once
enough people believe that it can. So we stand at the
pier every Sunday night with a sign that says:
"Visualize World Peace. It's up to you".

We also believe in non-violence both physically
and in our thoughts. We will discuss peace and
non-violence with anyone who is rational and
smile quietly at those who aren't. We hold this vigil
in a spirit of dignity and respect for all as we try
to build bridges with those who don't share our
philosophy.

Please bring a candle or just help us hold up our
banner (no signs please; we have our banner!)
