Sept 1, 2006 -- In a speech in Salt Lake City yesterday President
George W. Bush said "If we give up the fight in
the streets of Baghdad, we will face the terrorists in the streets of
our own cities."

What did he mean?

It behooves the American people to pay attention when this President
speaks. Often it's simply amusing — "Is our children learning?" for
example -- malapropisms meant to endear this malicious, cynical
monster to Americans who have low self-esteem.

But more frequently the truth of the plan of the future is hidden in
the speech. Bush's speech writers can't help dabbling in ironic
nuance any more than the planners of the World Trade Center fiasco
could keep from picking 911 as the hippest date for their endeavor.
"911" is just too-o-o-o good -- emergency, fear, urgency, night
terror and knives at the throat.

After the Supreme Court stopped the vote count and Al Gore, the
Saboteur of Kyoto, rolled over and played the dead man he always was,
Bush I and Bush II went on an outing in Florida and caught a fish.
They threw it back, Bush I saying with the smugness in his voice that
shows up as a smirk on his son's face, "Well, that's all the
environmentalists get." Few paid much attention, but the sorry truth
of the emasculation of federal pollution controls was alive and well
in that flippant sentence.

When the Frat Rat-in-Chief declare that "You are with us or against
us," it was not idle chatter. It was downright predictive.

I submit now that when George W. Bush says "If we give up the fight
in the streets of Baghdad, we will face the terrorists in the streets
of our own cities" he is pointing the way to the future -- a future
secured by the passage of the Patriot Act, the increased but
uncontested security bamboozling at the airports, the wiretapping of
homes and phones, the softening of Congress with anthrax, the plans
for eyeball identification scanners, the fences at the borders and
soon the mobilization of American troops to guard against the 65
percent or so of the American people who do not approve of this
illegal, immoral and contrived war.

Just as American intervention in the elections of other countries --
especially South and Latin American countries -- has come home to
bring peril to our own electoral system, the heavy-handed, brutal,
callous, cynical and terrible slaughter we have brought to other
countries will also come home to haunt us. Reap what you sow and all
that....

The coming killing of American citizens in their own homes and on
their own streets by their own government (or, rather, a government
usurped by multinational business entities lubricated by a dullard
media) is the essence of the truth George W. is talking about when he
says, "we will face the terrorists in the streets."

He means peace loving American voters and their children, don't you
know? The American people -- the terrorists in our own streets ("new
fascists," Rumsfield calls them)-- are in the way and the corporate
monsters just will not allow it.

Impeach, try and punish the bastards. Oh, and get rid of
representative democracy -- it can be bought.
