Just say no! Dear Friends, Please excuse me just this one time from sending you a bulk email message -- but this is an urgent issue and it needs your attention. It's unbelievable to me that 48 California parks may close! We cannot separate our health from the health of the planet. These include treasures like: Tomales Bay State Park, Armstrong Redwoods SR Benicia Capitol SHP Benicia SRA Candlestick Point SRA Del Norte Coast Redwoods SP Estero Bluffs SP Fremont Peak SHP Grizzly Creek Redwoods SP Henry W. Coe SP Malakoff Diggins SHP Manchester State Beach Portola Redwoods SP San Simeon State Park...and more! (complete list at bottom of message) It takes under 2 minutes to sign the campaign or send an email to Gov. Schwartznegger--or to email this to your friends so they can take action too. Thanks for your time. A Fellow Nature Lover, Giselle Bisson ------------------------ "Dan Jacobson, Environment California Legislative Director" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: The governor wants to close Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve, Montana de Oro State Park, Will Rogers State Historic Park (which just finished a $5 million restoration!) and 45 other state parks throughout California. What could he possibly be thinking? To tell you the truth, I have no idea. But one thing I do know: We have to nip this bad idea in the bud. If you want to join me in saying no to closing state parks, click here: http://environmentcalifornia.org/action/preservation/state-parks?id4=ES In a move that has stunned nature-lovers across the state, Gov. Schwarzenegger's latest budget proposal would shut down 20 percent of the state's parks, as well as cut down on lifeguards at state beaches. Of course, we all know California needs to balance the budget. But we're talking about a step that would save $9 million - less than 0.1 percent of the state budget. Meanwhile, the costs to our environment, our quality of life, and our confidence in state government would be incalculable. Let's kill this idea before it gets any further. Click here to tell the governor to back off of this wrong-headed move. And please, forward this e-mail to your family and friends. We need the governor to hear from as many people as possible. http://environmentcalifornia.org/action/preservation/state-parks?id4=ES Sincerely, Dan Jacobson Environment California Legislative Director [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.environmentcalifornia.org P.S.
