fuels Guantánamo & US detention policies

"The United States has always asserted global leadership in the field of
human rights. But noxious facilities like Guantánamo, Bagram, Abu Ghraib and
the CIA black sites, where torture is allowed but due process isn't, make a
mockery of those assertions, as does the plague of solitary confinement in
our domestic prisons." said ICUJP organizer Jon Krampner.

“The time has come for the American people to make their voices heard
against the scourge of indefinite detention. We must all demand that the
government repeal the National Defense Authorization Act, before the horrors
of Guantánamo are brought to us here at home,” added Stephen Rohde, chair of
ICUJP and the ACLU Foundation of Southern California.

ICUJP and its coalition partners call on President Obama and Attorney
General Holder to investigate and, where warranted, prosecute high U.S.
government officials who have designed and implemented policies of torture
at home and abroad; calls on Senator Dianne Feinstein, chair of the Senate
Intelligence Community to release the report on CIA use of torture; and
calls for the repeal of the indefinite detention provisions of the National
Defense Authorization Act.
