The "no releases" was an key part of the proposal for Labs and included in the bylaws that were submitted to the board: http://www.apache.org/foundation/records/minutes/2006/board_minutes_2006_11_15.txt Labs is in effect an ASF wide sandbox. Once we allow releases then we will be encouraging people to use software for code that has no community and IMO thats not a good idea. At this point I would vote against such a proposal. I also think that since this would be a change to what the board approved, then it should be informed if the Labs PMC decided to proceed down that route. > The second part of the rationale is more important.
