Hi all,
I would like to propose an Apache Lab called "ASF Community
recommendations". The goal of the lab would be to host a web application
that issues recommendations to ASF committers for source code files they
might be interested to co-author with others. The webapp would be generated
by WebDSL, a domain-specific language for the implementation of dynamic web
applications [1].
I am currently developing a sub-language for collaborative filtering in
WebDSL using Apache Mahout and SVNPlot [2]. Apache Labs would be the ideal
place to test this sub-language and related preprocessing scripts in
SVNPlot. In addition, I am proposing an alternate Google Summer of Code
project based on these developments and the proposed "ASF Community
recommendations" lab. In relation to the project I am also proposing to give
a presentation at ApacheCon NA later this year.
The motivation for the lab is to increase collaboration within and across
ASF (incubator) communities based on source code co-authorship. I believe
the lab can really have an impact, for example on incubator communities. But
of course that is something that needs to be tested first. And Apache Labs
would be the ideal place for that!
sounds interesting! +1
Best regards,
Reinhard
