I think the following would do:
cd /www/labs.apache.org
svn up
(and wait a couple of hours)
I tried to do it, but I got a 'Permission denied'. If you could please
add me to the labs group I'd be in a better position to help.

I went through all the steps and I think I am all set. One thing I noticed
is that the live site hasn't been updated in a while.
Does anybody know if updating it is a manual process or a cron job somewhere
that is not running anymore. Updating it is not a problem, I can take care
of it, I am more interested in learning the labs' rules of engagement (if
any).
AFAIK, there's no cron setup - someone needs to logon to people.a.o
and svn up. If no one beats me to it, I'll try to remember to do it
tonight.
This is hopefully very temporary as we'll soon be transitioning[1] to
the CMS for the site which will allow easier editing and publishing...
