Has anyone pondered whether it wasn't mice at all, but the Borrowers in action?
I'm absolutely convinced that it had to be the Borrowers and the people at the jewelers' simply didn't have the nerve to say so to the press for fear of sounding foolish -- people will belive mice and magpies, but Borrowers?
