Hi everyone, and to my American buddies - may you all have a pleasant day.
I don't know if "Happy" is appropriate as it is to honour the war dead.
What are some traditions related to Memorial Day?

Well, first and most exciting: everyone gets the day off. :-> Many people
fly the flag on that day, and some individuals and groups go decorate and clean graves.

Here in Boulder, Colorado, in the morning,
half the town (about 50,000 people) goes out for the 10K run/walk, called the
Bolder Boulder. One quarter of the town goes out to cheer on the runners and
walkers, and the other quarter of the town (fat and unattractive as we are), hide
until the whole thing is over. :->

For those of you unfamiliar with the "People's Republic of Boulder,"
it is a city of thin, attractive, outdoorsey types (very annoying to us Others) who
eat only whole grains, don't smoke tobacco and ride bikes to work.

Then, after the morning activities, people go to the mountains or reservoir, picnic, lay around,
and groan about the fact they have to go to work the next day. Kind of like having
two Sundays in a row. :->
