The following came to me from my son, and I freely admit that I totally missed the point on the first look. I remembered Kosovo as a town/province rather than a country, but that wasn't what he'd meant. And the date is Nov '01, and things have changed some since then; both Spain and Poland (not on the list here) have, since, registered "activity" - if not of al Qaeda directly, then of its spawn.

So, I wrote him back, baffled, and asked for elucidation. Instead of explaining (I suppose, all those times in his childhood, when I didn't explain things, but told him to *think* are now coming home to me <g>), he suggested I look again, and pay particular attention to: a) the source of information (US Government, the State Dept), b) the date of the posting (Nov '01) and c) *then* to the countries which aren't marked in red/listed below the map...

OK... It would have been even neater if the website's date was Nov '02, but I expect that would be too much to wish for... :) The country for which US never detected any Al Qaeda activity, and which, therefore, could not have been blamed, in the slightest degree, for 9/11???
