In the US, it took my calls from constant to nothing. There was a transition
for a couple of months, and we are told to ask them to put our name on their
"do not call" list, as the list is purchased periodically and it may take
awhile for them to update.
Just saying it is enough, but the telemarketer can just hang up and go to
another person and not mark yours, so offer to wait. Then they know you mean
it. <smile> A few had the 800 numbers set up so if you call back the number
on the caller ID, it automatically meant you wished not to be called and will
verbally verify it for you.
The transition took 2-3 months, but I get no calls now.
