Dear Peter, Perhaps you would be interested in taking a 12 hour beginning Honiton class, or a 12 hour continuing Honiton class depending on where you are in your skills. The annual Lace Convention will be occurring in Harrisburg, Pa. within driving distance of New York, Aug 1-9. This year, unlike other years it is possible to take a 12 hour class in just 2 days, only incurring the expense of the hotel for one night.
Beginning Honiton would be Mon. and Tues. August 2 & 3. (Continuing would be Aug. 5 & 6) It would cost you $175 for the class, an $80 non-refundable deposit and, if the group rate is still being honored, $109 for the hotel room. Thus you could enjoy the convention, access to the sales room (best part of convention, some say) and exhibit rooms on the days of the class. You would also get a lapel pin, Tote bag and purple gift bag. The total cost by my reckoning would be $364. Due to the fact that the unusual format of this convention has excited controversey, it may never be possible for someone like you to attend without committing to an entire week again. You might want to seize the opportunity to try it out!
