Howdy all, I finished a garter not long ago for my sons' dear bride, and it is a variation of the one in Bridget Cooks "Weddings, Christenings and Anniversaries." I think I enlarged the pattern a bit too. At any rate, this is the second one I've made, and for the first one I went around the pattern 3 times as recommended, and it was too long. The thigh it went around was of average size, but the ruffle was so deep that you couldn't really see the pattern. The second one I went 2 &1/2 times around, and it was still too long. Anyway, it is something to think about. It took me about 45 hours, and it was disappointing that the pattern was obscured by the depth of ruffle. My mother suggested that I cut some off (obviously she is not a lacemaker) but I wasn't about to after so carefully weaving the ends together!
