The pricking for the Paisley Pear design is the centre fold for the book
published by the Lace Guild, written by Pat Rowley for the 'Art, Trade or
Mystery' exhibition on Lacemaking in Northamptonshire held a few years ago.
There is also a photograph of Betsy Gibbing of Paulerspury, Northamptonshire
working the lace, possibly for the Midlands Lace Association, plus a couple
of pictures of the lace.
Some years ago a friend and I did voluntary work at Abington Museum,
Northampton cataloguing the lace, the Paisley Pear was one piece which we
were able to handle and study in the process. At about the same time we
found a copy of the pricking of the design in Aylesbury Museum, with this
information Pat were able to arrange a loan of the pricking to be displayed
with the lace at the expo.
I believe the Lace Guild still has copies of the book for sale in the
current magazine.
