Well, that fits with the thoughts I have had...

The cat, in art (particularly religious art) of the period is often a symbol of 
laziness and self-indulgence (what??  a CAT??   vbg).  So here she is, 
obviously not working lace for a living, the candle burning low, and a bag of 
snuff in her hands.  If that were chocolate, it could be many of us today!!
