Dear Arachnes, The announcement below this letter prompted me to take a look at the auction offerings (in U.K.). Lots 1029 and 1067 had bits of laces, maybe of questionable quality. Lots 1159 and 1160 are large amounts of spangled bone bobbins. There is a comment: "Please note there are export restrictions on this lot outside the EU." First I've heard of restrictions. Does anyone know more about bone items presenting a problem? When I buy bobbins during travels, I simply list them as handcrafts. Never had a problem. Know dealers send new ones to lace days in the U.S. Lot 1164 is a C. 1910 Edwardian style Irish crochet skirt (displayed badly). Lot 1270 is an interesting gold Russian dress, mid-19th C., broad bands of bobbin lace. Lot 1306 is a collection of lace Lot 1307 is a Chantilly lace cape Lot 1308 is a lace tea gown Lots 1194 to 1281 are from the Burton Court collection. Curious, I went to their website to learn more.
