Hello All! I don't use a hook or wire. I use a beading needle with a short length of thread. I put the needle through the bead letting about 2 inches of thread hang out of the bead. Take the beading needle around the lace thread and back through the bead, pulling a loop of the lace thread through the bead. Then make a sewing and tighten the stitch. I always have beading needles, but not fine wire. I do have a tool just to do lace sewings. Basicly it's a sewing needle with the sharp end stuck into a wooden handle with the eye exposed.
