This would be early nineteenth century rather than eighteenth, and sounds as 
though it's an East Midlands bolster pillow.  AFAIK they came in all sorts of 
colours, often with printed patterns.  It's only fairly recently that BL 
pillows have been plain dark colours, the first pillow I made (you couldn't buy 
them back in the 1970s) was a round 'cookie' type and was covered with pink and 
white gingham!
