Hello Alice and all,

Every year, (in a different city) takes place in Catalonia the Lace Day Event "La Diada de la puntaire" that is "The lacemakers Great Day". It is organized by the Catalonian Lace Association-ACP, and this year the demonstration was the 29nth April in Arenys de Mar, city with a great lace tradition.

Other activities that we had the opportunity to enjoy were:
A fashion show. An international participation with stands from Hungary, Idrija, Slovaquia, France, and other traditional lace areas of Spain as CamariƱas, Almagro, ArboƧ, Arenys de Munt and Arenys de Mar. Also, an interesting exhibition in the Mares Lace Museum.

2.300 lacemakers were participants in the Diada and up to 50 vendors.
Next year the event will take place in the city of Barcelona, probably 26nth May, 2013.

On the first web address above, picture 141... What kind of lace is it? I
have an antique shawl made of this kind of lace that was labeled

As Bev well says, these type of laces are the traditional guipure laces we make in Spain, they have a certain familiarity with Cluny laces. They have a plaited ground, leaves, and the outer edge ends with plaits forming pointed edges with picots (puntillones). Other pictures that are within this Spanish lace are: 73, 79, 100, 104 and 140.

Greetings from Barcelona. Spain
