I’m so happy to see your posts again, T.  You have truly been missed!  And 
the same thing came to my mind re: the word “peccadilles”...peccadillo.  
After seeing more description of its having open cutwork or eyelets (using a 
stiletto?), another thought...could it have any connection to the word or its 
root “picador” (as in bullfighting)?   A stretch, I know....)-:
