Hello Jane, Leonard and everyone

Finally getting around to responding to this. Roseground and its endless
variations is a new interest of mine.
Whereas I used to be happy with CT the pairs to enter and exit, and CTCT
closed pins (Jane's 1, 2, 3, 4), in working a project involving many
Torchon fillings I am enjoying trying different rosegrounds.
Lately one of my favourites is all-honeycomb: CTT enter and exit, CTT
closed pins, for a bubbly, open appearance. A bonus to the honeycomb effect
is that the thread tends not to untwist.

Leonard, thank you for the endorsement of the Maidment book. You are right,
there is value in it yet and should not be overlooked!

Jane, you had asked (some time ago, I'm embarassed to say) what is our
favourite combination of roseground stitches. After some thinking about it,
as I worked the fillings project, I've decided my favourite of many are
those where the pairs enter and leave as true pairs, despite whatever
happens to them within the little rose part. It is one way I can tell I've
made the thing correctly, even though it is possible to mis-step within and
the pairs exit evenly anyway.

My least favourite to work are the asymmetric type, rogues that they are.
Even so, sometimes that is the effect one wants (asymmetric, not rogue-ish).
