I did exactly what you are planning to do with the new project, I decided to start with Bucks Point and used Geraldine Stotts book starting at the beginning and piece by piece gained knowledge of the lace. I think that is the best way because it gets increasingly harder as you go but it certainly gives you a great grounding. The practice pieces I trimmed a dolls christening outfit that I made.
