I was at an Arachne gathering at the Salt Lake City IOLI Convention and I realized that many of the younger members were computer gamers and some of the older members seem to have been part of the Dungeons and Dragons crowd. I found myself wondering if the founding of Arachne had occurred because lacemaking appeals to women with mathematical, scientific and coding experience, and those women who were very computer knowledgeable started an internet list about lacemaking as a result.
