Hi Arachnids I seem to have started something, good. Regarding the ability with maths or not. As a maths teacher I saw, and helped, many who had had a bad experience in maths or missed some due to ill health, and then thought they could not do it. I have also taught lacemaking to other and assumed they were good at maths only to be told they were not, but when further questioned it turned out they had had a bad experience in the past that blocked their progress in the subject. However, as others are mentioning, ability in maths is not necessary, only the enjoyment of making lace and wanting to do it is important.
