I have been traveling from Seattle to the East Coast many times over the
years to go bobbinlacing with my sister..... For a long time, I used a
20" pillow that would fit corner to corner in my suitcase, which was ok,
but very awkward to pack. I tried an 18" pillow, which fit in the
suitcase better, but was small for the projects I wanted to do. Last
year, I had the idea of getting a hard sided garment bag. My 20" pillows
fit perfectly on one side, and there is still enough room to pack what I
need on the other side! Mine is a Samsonite brand.

At home, I am currently making some BucksPoint lace for a garter for my
niece's wedding next January. I am using a 18" x 24" wide roller pillow.
I bought it for this project, which uses only 100 or so bobbins, but
works better than I had hoped. The lace is going very fast, now that I am
done making samples. The oval shape allows me to stay close to the
work, but still have enough width so house the bobbins that currently are
not in work. When I was in Japan for 7 months for work, I did a Binche
piece that used about 200 bobbins and did it on an 18" pillow. It was
doable, but really could have used a larger pillow. Managing the edges
was a challenge on that small pillow.

(ok, so I have about 15 pillows, but being able to travel with a larger
one is very nice!)
