Here's another thought.... in the rural areas of the UK they frequently called carthorses Pharoah too.... Maybe it was the name of the family carthorse or pony with a huge aspiration....

When this bobbin was first mentioned I did a quick check in Ancestry which shows 522 references to people with the first name Pharoah. Some of the references will be for the same person who is shown on successive censuses.

I guess some people called their kids Pharoah because of the popularity of
explorations in Egypt
