Instead of knitting tiny rectangles for the dog's legs, make them as tubes, in knitted cord for instance. Cast on 3 stitches on a dp needle, knit the 3, move the knitting forward, swing the yarn to the first stitch, knit the next row, and so on, thus making a tube - stuff and end it off. Also known as I-cord and as such, can also be used as a length to *lace* through e.g. some holes.
The magic loop method of knitting can also be used for small tubular items. Best to google it else I waste space trying to explain...the magic loop is a long circular needle - not related to our *bobbin lace* magic loops. I missed Diana. What would she have worn, if....?
