I love arachne, I love Ravelry.  They are two very different experiences
though.  I was a member of the bobbinlace ning, but obviously didn't keep up
with it because I didn't know that it had been deactivated.

The nice thing
about the arachne list is that it's there, in my inbox, without any effort
from me.  I may choose to read, delete, respond.  If I'm away from my actual
lacemaking for a time it's still in the forefront of my brain because I'm
reading the listmail.  I don't have to actively seek it out by going to a
website.

I love Ravelry and find myself very engaged because I can belong to
groups that define my particular interests.  The photos of projects are so
inspiring and the materials used have encouraged me to broaden my horizons so
much.  Ravelry is successful because so many people are engaged and everything
they put into it makes the experience better for everyone.  It's exciting to
think where my lacemaking would go with a similar stimulus.

My online time
is spent first checking my email, then checking in with my groups on Ravelry.
Add one more click to that and I don't know how much I will be able to keep
up with when life gets busy.

Just my two cents.
