I've not followed this thread very closely but if it came to a vote
(formal or not), I prefer the current format for this list. There is
really no need for profiles and pictures (many of which are often not of
the person themselves, but of an image they like) as they do not add
anything to the worth of the list. I feel if people want this style,
there's always facebook. I love the immediacy of the list - it's there
as soon as I open my email client, and messages pop up as I'm checking
my email. Someone mentioned Ravelry. I'm also a member, but I don't go
on very often, and usually for something specific. I don't feel as if
the people on their are my friends as I do fellow Arachnids, to whom I'd
turn for help, to tell about something I've discovered or the share a
lace-related achievement. Then there's the lace chat with it's more
nformal feel. It's not that I don't like change, but change for changes
sake is not, in my view, a good reason.
