We definitely want private groups, but I'd still like public groups notices to not hit the public timeline. I'm assuming private groups will require confirmation from a group owner (and we surely need the ability to have multiple owners before that happens) before someone can be added to the group. I don't want that much overhead for groups that don't have anything to hide but that I don't want spamming up the public feed. I'd like the average public group still searchable, have its feed available for anyone to look at, just not on the public feed. I've thought about just relying more on my personal feed, but I follow people that post a lot of stuff to groups that I could care less about. I don't want to unsubscribe from them, but I don't want to see their notices directed at groups.
