Billy - the Padpaw team was looking to do the same thing, basically creating a parallel mobile site that would use the same Laconica database. I guess we'll need to look at this more carefully. I think Laconica would benefit from a really well designed dotmobi site that can work on a variety of devices. The current set of Twitter mobile clients are disappointing.
