I am very keen on getting my site ASAP, so is there a way I can use the script w/out breaking numerous federal laws and possibly incur the wrath of laconi.ca developers?

I am not a lawyer or anything, but looking at the site you linked to, it looks like it is software that runs its own entire microblog site and pulls the content in from other sites in order to create that feature.

If you're running it as a standalone program with a different URL but on the same domain as your laconica installation, then you should be under no obligation to show any source or anything.

If you're really looking to integrate this script into your laconica install, that is, take parts from their software package and graft them into your laconica pages, then I can't help you at all. It's my understanding that you are *not* free to mix that code with code that is not released to the public, and there probably isn't anything you can do about it.

Just my uninformed understanding.
