Has anyone experienced any strange activity on their laconica instances lately?
My server has been getting killed the last two days from IDs similar to 11stead99. New users keep popping up with 11 at the front end of their user nickname. All notices from the users come from web. Thankfully they are not porn related but they are obviously spam oriented. I am blocking the IDs as created in my config file but am not sure how to stop them. I am receiving email notices saying the request to confirm email address was rejected. After a few hours later my site becomes inaccessible and I am not able to even login via SSH. The only way I can gain access to my site again is by logging into Slicehost and creating a new root password / rebooting the server. Scary I know. Any creative ideas? Has anyone else battled this recently? I am using 0.8.0 on ubuntu 9.04 with apache2 on slicehost. -- Patrick
