Sorry to drag up an old thread. I finally got around to installing LAM
3.4.0 and wanted to thank you for adding that long username option.
That seems like an elegant way to handle things. My only suggestion is
to move that variable to maybe the lam.conf file or something similar
just so that it does not get removed in upgrades.
