Hi Daniel,

Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English shows that 'used to' with the
sense of 'be accustomed to' is not always used with the gerund:
used (adjective). be/get used to (doing) something. To have experienced
something so that it no longer seems surprising, difficult, strange etc: I
do the dishes every day, so I am used to it. | I can't get used to the idea
that you're grown up now.

Interestingly, LDCE does not give an example with the gerund.

Both of these are correct (with the meaning of 'accustomed to'):
I am used to managing people.
I am used to the difficulties of managing people.

Also, 'used to' is a modal verb that has the meaning of
1) happened regularly in the past.
Example: Last year, I used to go to the gym every day, but now I go only 3
times a week.
2) previously existed but does not exist now.
Example: I used to live in Paris, but now I live in Berlin.

I suggest something like:
"used to" in the sense of "be accustomed to" can be written with the gerund:

used to managing

But, that does not fully explain the complexities of the analysis. I am
struggling to think of a clear and short message. Sorry.

Regards,

Mike Unwalla

Would this be a good message?
