Hi,

recently, there has been a lot of activity to improve the state of
English spell checking (in general, not directly related to LT). One
major problem with it is that there's no single dictionary from which
all the variants (US, GB, ...) can be derived. Instead, there are two
en-GB dictionaries. Work is now going on to sync those dictionaries, so
that in the long term we have one unified English spell checking
dictionary. This is still quite some work and help is needed. If you're
an English native speaker (no matter of which variant of English),
please consider helping with this. Kevin Atkinson has a list of issues
at github that you might help with at [1].

These two issues are especially relevant:
https://github.com/kevina/wordlist/issues/64
https://github.com/kevina/wordlist/issues/65

Also, there's a new web app to create dictionaries of different sizes:
http://app.aspell.net/create

This web app will let you know if a word is in the latest list from
Kevin:
http://app.aspell.net/lookup
