I had the same problem with a notebook IBM X41 which _does not_ use the e1000g driver after the system is installed... I had to disable in bios both wired/wireless interfaces (bge/iwi), install b109 and re-enable the interfaces before the first boot (so /reconfigure works as intended).
Could it be a problem with e1000g/x86.miniroot when detecting network hardware? Either way you need a bug entry for this. I can send specific data or do some tests if asked. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
